Meet Our Founder – Oanh Do

  • Qualified Skin Specialist
  • Acupuncturist
  • Registered Reflexologist
  • Neuromuscular Therapist
  • Traditional Thai Massage Practitioner

My professional journey is a combination of family heritage, academic education, traditional therapeutic knowledge and modern scientific understanding.

I spent five years studying Financial Accounting and Business Management at Athlone Institute of Technology, now part of the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS).

I genuinely enjoyed my studies and gained valuable knowledge in financial management, business operations and leadership.

However, despite my interest in business and finance, my passion for traditional healing had always been part of my life.

That passion began with my grandfather.

Inspired by My Grandfather – A Legacy of Healing

My grandfather was an acupuncturist and traditional herbalist.

His knowledge of traditional medicine, dedication to his profession and compassionate approach to helping others left a lasting impression on me.

Growing up with his influence, I developed a deep appreciation for traditional healing practices and the importance of treating people with kindness, patience and respect.

Although I enjoyed studying accounting and business management, I eventually realised that my greatest professional fulfilment would come from working directly with people and supporting their wellbeing.

I decided to follow in my grandfather's footsteps by pursuing professional education in acupuncture, traditional Chinese medicine and complementary therapies.

Today, I am proud to continue his legacy while combining traditional therapeutic knowledge with modern anatomy, professional skincare and ongoing scientific education.

My Education & Professional Qualifications

I strongly believe that education is a lifelong journey, particularly when working in therapeutic and skincare professions.

Throughout my career, I have dedicated many years to professional training, continually expanding my understanding of the human body, skin health and individual client care.

Financial Accounting & Business Management – Five Years

Athlone Institute of Technology / Technological University of the Shannon (TUS)

My five years of study in Financial Accounting and Business Management provided a strong foundation in financial planning, business operations, management and leadership.

Although my professional career developed towards therapeutic healthcare and wellness, I continue to value this education and apply the knowledge to managing and developing my businesses.

Professional Reflexology – One Year

My professional reflexology training included the principles and practice of reflexology, anatomy, physiology and holistic client care.

Reflexology remains an important part of my professional practice, offering clients a gentle complementary approach to relaxation and wellbeing.

Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine – Three Years

Inspired by my grandfather's profession, I undertook three years of professional training in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

My studies included traditional Chinese medicine principles, acupuncture points, meridian theory, anatomy, physiology and clinical practice.

This education strengthened my understanding of traditional therapeutic approaches and the importance of personalised care.

Biomedical Manufacturing – One Year

My studies in Biomedical Manufacturing expanded my understanding of scientific processes, biomedical production, quality standards and professional precision.

This qualification provided an additional scientific perspective that complements my therapeutic education.

Neuromuscular Therapy – 15 Months

My 15-month Neuromuscular Therapy programme focused on musculoskeletal anatomy, muscular dysfunction, soft tissue assessment and therapeutic treatment techniques.

This training deepened my understanding of the relationships between muscles, movement, posture and pain.

It reinforced my belief that effective therapeutic treatment should be based on anatomical knowledge, appropriate assessment and carefully selected techniques rather than simply applying strong pressure.

Traditional Thai Medical Massage

Wat Pho, Thailand

As part of my commitment to learning traditional therapeutic practices from their cultural origins, I travelled to Thailand to undertake professional training in Traditional Thai Medical Massage at Wat Pho.

Wat Pho is internationally recognised for its long-standing association with traditional Thai medicine and massage education.

My training included traditional Thai massage techniques, acupressure, assisted stretching, Sen energy lines and therapeutic bodywork.

Studying in Thailand was an important experience that strengthened my respect for traditional healing heritage and broadened my practical therapeutic knowledge.

Human Anatomy Dissection

King's College London

One of the most valuable experiences in my continuing professional education was attending a Human Anatomy Dissection Course at King's College London with anatomist John Sharkey.

This practical anatomical learning experience allowed me to study human structures through direct observation.

Exploring the relationships between muscles, nerves, connective tissues and internal organs deepened my understanding of the complexity of the human body.

The experience reinforced the importance of anatomical knowledge, precision, safety and professional responsibility in therapeutic practice.

Qualified Professional Skin Specialist

As a qualified Skin Specialist, I have developed professional knowledge in skin anatomy, physiology, skin assessment and skincare treatments.

My education has strengthened my understanding of different skin types, common skin concerns and the importance of selecting appropriate treatments for each individual.

I believe healthy-looking skin begins with understanding its unique needs rather than following a single approach for everyone.

My professional skincare knowledge complements my wider background in anatomy, therapeutic practice and holistic wellbeing.

Professional Microneedling Training

Dermalogica

To further develop my expertise in advanced skincare, I completed professional Microneedling Training with Dermalogica.

This specialised training expanded my knowledge of microneedling techniques, skin rejuvenation, treatment suitability and professional skincare protocols.

Microneedling is an advanced cosmetic treatment used to support collagen remodelling and improve the appearance of selected skin concerns, including fine lines, uneven texture and certain acne scars.

My training reinforced the importance of professional skin assessment, hygiene, appropriate treatment techniques, contraindications and post-treatment care.

Essential Oils Qualification

I have also completed professional training in essential oils, expanding my knowledge of their properties, safe application and appropriate use within wellness treatments.

I value the role that carefully selected aromas and essential oils can play in creating a relaxing and nurturing treatment experience.

This knowledge complements my interest in holistic wellbeing and traditional therapeutic practices.

Professional Memberships

I value professional standards, accountability and ongoing development within the therapeutic industry.

My professional memberships include:

  • Acupuncture Council of Ireland (ACI)

  • National Register of Reflexologists Ireland (NRRI)

  • Association of Neuromuscular Therapists (ANMT)

These professional affiliations reflect my commitment to maintaining appropriate standards of practice, professional development and responsible client care.

Bridging Traditional Healing & Modern Scientific Knowledge

My professional philosophy has developed through years of studying different disciplines.

From the traditional Chinese medicine practices that inspired my grandfather, to Thai medical massage training at Wat Pho, modern anatomical education at King's College London and professional skincare training with Dermalogica, every experience has contributed to my understanding of therapeutic care.

I believe traditional therapeutic knowledge deserves respect, while modern scientific understanding provides an important foundation for safety, assessment and responsible practice.

My approach is not simply to perform a treatment, but to understand the individual, listen to their concerns and select techniques appropriate to their needs.

From Utopia Spa to The Skin Ambassador & Wellness Centre

My experience as the owner and manager of Utopia Spa in Athlone since October 2017 has been an important part of my professional journey.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of working with many clients, learning from their individual needs and developing my knowledge and experience within the wellness industry.

This experience inspired me to create something new.

The Skin Ambassador & Wellness Centre represents the next chapter of my professional journey.

My vision was to establish a welcoming centre bringing together professional skincare, advanced facial treatments, traditional therapeutic practices and modern wellness services.

I wanted to create a place where beauty and wellbeing are not treated as separate experiences, but as complementary aspects of self-care.

Our centre brings together a wide range of services, including:

  • Professional facials and advanced skin treatments.
  • Dermaplaning and microneedling.

Body, Spirit & Mind

Our Philosophy – Body, Spirit & Mind

At The Skin Ambassador & Wellness Centre, we recognise that every individual is unique. Our philosophy is built upon four principles.

Professional Knowledge

We value education, practical experience and ongoing professional development. We believe skilled therapists should continually expand their knowledge and understanding.

Personalised Care

We take time to listen to our clients, understand their concerns and adapt treatments to their individual needs and preferences.

Traditional Heritage & Modern Practice

We respect the traditions of acupuncture, reflexology and Thai therapeutic massage while incorporating contemporary anatomical understanding, professional skincare and appropriate modern technologies.

Compassion & Wellbeing

We aim to provide more than a treatment. We want every visit to be a positive experience that encourages relaxation, confidence and self-care.

My Commitment to Lifelong Learning

For me, education has never been simply about obtaining qualifications.

Every course I have completed has given me an opportunity to deepen my knowledge, improve my skills and develop a better understanding of the people I work with.

From five years studying business and accounting to acupuncture, reflexology, biomedical manufacturing, neuromuscular therapy, Thai medical massage, human anatomy, essential oils and advanced skincare, each stage has shaped the professional I am today.

I remain committed to continuing my education and developing my skills as new knowledge, techniques and technologies emerge.

I believe that the more I learn, the better equipped I am to provide thoughtful, responsible and personalised care.

A Personal Message from Oanh

The Skin Ambassador & Wellness Centre is more than a business to me.
